[plt-scheme] graphical interface

Hi,
 
I am developing a graphical interface (to a graphical application) with Scheme
and I am trying to figure out what is the best way to do this: use MrEd (like
the famous "gears"), or a module-based language (like "SX"). 
 
Does the choice of language have any implication on the compilation process, on
the speed of functionning afterwards, etc.?
