[racket] How does Universe.ss paint? How is it so optimized with almost little to no flickring?

I have a package on PLaneT called animated-canvas (
http://planet.plt-scheme.org/display.ss?package=animated-canvas.plt&owner=williams)
that does the double buffering for you. There are examples of its usage
there.
