[plt-scheme] Resources for curriculum design with quantitative feedback

Those of you who design your own curricula, what are some good
resources for collecting and analyzing data in the classroom? For
example, assume I'd like to determine student attitudes about
mathematics before and after taking a Bootstrap class. How should
I word the questions in order to avoid bias? How many students do
I need to poll before I have what's generally considered a
statistically significant sample size?

Those are rhetorical questions for illustrative purposes, but
typical of what's on my mind. I have no experience in the
quantitative social sciences, and I'm looking for a good place to
start learning.

A book or two on the topic would be ideal, but research papers
are fine, too.

thanks!
