[plt-scheme] installation problems

hi,

i'm having a problem getting plt-scheme installed on the redhat linux
machine that i'm using at school and since i'm unfamiliar with linux, I
don't know if the problem is due to restrictions in the system or not.

when i run scheme from the terminal i get this error

Floating point exception

i'd appreciate if someone could give me some pointers on fixing this
