Perhaps it would be wise to frame the suggestion for 
that manifesto in a more respectable light, so:

  "The success of Debbie on the test about fractions goes against the
instructionist idea that the only way of improving knowledge of a student about
topic X is teaching about X. Anyone who doubt the prevalence of this idea would
do well in reading Deschooling Society, by Ivan Illich, once more in the spirit
of looking at an idea in its most extreme form.Illich exposes in an eloquent way his 
allegation that the main lesson that school teaches is the need to be taught."[1]
