Or at least I thought I could do that, but of course it's not so simple. After
doing "rm -rf wxcommon/{jpeg,libpng,zlib}" configure fails thusly:


config.status: creating mred/Makefile
config.status: creating mred/wxs/Makefile
config.status: creating mred/wxme/Makefile
config.status: creating mred/gc2/Makefile
config.status: error: cannot find input file: wxcommon/libpng/Makefile.in
