[plt-scheme] Number crunching -> Matthias, Eli

For what it's worth, we're currently working on support for
parallelism. ("We" mostly means Kevin Tew at Utah.)

We also work continuously on performance in general, but it's
interleaved with work on many other fronts. I imagine adding `*fx',
etc. and some sort of `unsafe' directive, eventually.
