[plt-scheme] interactions pane slow in HTDP

This is probably a FAQ but I can't find it. When I have DrScheme's 
language set to HTDP Advanced Student the interactions pane is painfully 
slow. It takes almost 8 seconds for the prompt to reappear after I hit 
enter at the prompt.

This does not happen if I have the language set to R5RS. I don't recall 
it being this slow in previous versions of DrScheme.

I've played with various preferences but to no avail.

Any thoughts?
