15 years ago, I fought similar battles as a consultant at Fortune 100
companies. We were brought in to advocate Objective-C (NeXT) and
Smalltalk. Management brought us in to shake up the status quo; they
had ambitious goals and they wanted their internal development teams
to think outside the box. We succeeded when we were able to
demonstrate rapid development, small code footprints, better
performance, fewer bugs, etc. Ultimately management is thinking, "Is
this going to cause me more problems, or will it make my life easier?"

The same idea applies with Scheme. To convince a customer, develop a
routine demonstrating the points you want to make.

If I were in your shoes, I would exchange ideas and experience with
Anton van Straaten at AppSolutions, and with Untyped, Neil Van Dyke
and Cadence Research Systems. Find the leaders and partner with them.

A selling point for Scheme is that good Scheme developers are
fundamentally problem solvers.
