[plt-scheme] How to enter unicode symbols into DrScheme?

Strange; on my DrScheme, version 3.99.0.13-svn26feb2008, english, running on Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2:

\spadesuit + <alt-\> -> ♠

but

\spadesuit + <ctrl-\> -> \spadesuitλ
