There's a little project I did a few years ago when I studied computer
science in your university - guess what, it was a BASIC interpreter.
Maybe having a look at the sources could help. You can find them at

Well the only problem is that it doesn't work anymore with the current
DrScheme - you'll have to download DrScheme v207 to try it out. But I
don't think that many changes would be needed to bring it up to date.
