[plt-scheme] XML collection slow?

Dear All,

The XML collection provided with mzscheme doesn't seem
to be very fast. Reading a 225KB XML document takes almost
1 (one) second on my pentium M 1.7GHz.

I'm using it to parse XML documents (using a "sax" parser on the
xexpr tree). Should I be using something else?

I don't particularly like ssax/sxml, because I have trouble reading
the documentation.
