[plt-scheme] Vancouver Lisp Users Group meeting for December - Google SoC
Hi all,
For our December lispvan meeting, Howard Yeh will be recounting his
experiences as a Lisp coder for last summer's Google Summer of Code.
Howard submitted his application through LispNYC (which was
coordinating all of the 2006 Google SoC Lisp-related projects). His
project was Wispy Lisp, a web framework for creating dynamic web
applications in Lisp. Howard will recount his experiences with Lisp,
Google SoC, Life, the Universe, and all that. ;-)
Here's the "official" meeting notice:
Topic: Strange Love, or: How I Learned to Love Lisp, and Started Worrying
Presenter: Howard Yeh
Date: Thursday, December 21, 2006
Time: 7pm - 10pm (or whenever)
Venue: Think!, 4512 West 10th Ave., Vancouver (see map)
Summary:
* Frontpiece
* Why Lisp
o Why I am not stupid enough not to use lisp
* Journey to Lambda Knighthood
o How to become enlightened, but still unemployed
* Picking Google's Pocket
o The Summer of Code experience
* Why Lisp is Dead (but no deader than usual)
o Why I am not smart enough to use lisp
* One Can Dream
o How somebody else can do the hardwork for me
I hope to record the meeting (so that Google's lawyers have sufficient
material to use in the law suit ;-) ).
This will be the last meeting of 2006. Take a break from the shopping
and end-of-year parties to come in, have a beer, and talk lisp for an
evening. See you at the meeting!
