Moving to a Lisp from a non-Lisp is a great time to adopt the sentiment,
"when in Rome..."
As to whether or not the conventions you see everyone else using are
*actually a good idea*... you might notice that Scheme hackers are an
individualistic bunch by nature, and have come from all walks of life,
yet most gravitate to very similar formatting conventions.
