[plt-scheme] How do I do this in true functional style?

Perhaps you could post the assignment question.  If it
still remains within the spirit of the assignment you could
use the OpenGL extension to PLT Scheme (called SGL) to do
fun stuff like:

  http://www.cs.bham.ac.uk/~nhw/tree1.gif

If the assignment is about the transforms necessary to
render a 3-D scene this wouldn't be appropriate.
