I'm actively working on GTK 2 bindings:

First alpha release might be as early as next week, but no promises.

Regarding Gnome other than GTK: I no longer encourage anyone to use or
develop for Gnome, but I suppose someone could extend the GTK 2 bindings
to support the other Gnome APIs.
