Mathematica has a page devoted to comparing itself to "research  
languages": "(Lisp, Scheme, ML, Caml, Haskell, Prolog, Smalltalk,  
FP, ...)"

Here's what they have to say; the topic sentence of the first  
paragraph in the section:

"Mathematica is by any reasonable measure the most advanced computer  
language currently in widespread use."


Hmm...

This is what we need, folks: Marketing Hyperbole.
