This was exactly what I tried to say :-)

It could also be mentioned that heavy load means more than 5-6 concurrent
users, on our (rather powerfull) server.

To make this completely precise:

(1) The server runs fine for small loads (static and dynamic Web pages 
of 500 or 1000 or 2000 a day).

(2) The server and the 3m server leaks memory for heavy hitting stress 
testing on simple servlets.

(3) The 3m server crashes after more or less precisely 30 mins on a 
heavy load.

We're investigating (2) for now. Time outs should take care of this but 
don't so perhaps there is a problem. Naturally, even if we empty out 
the tables the Boehm-based server may still appear to be large. It 
doesn't explain the appearances (or the crashes) for 3m.
