[plt-scheme] new to list: need advice

All,

I'm new to this list (surprised it is so active). I am
somewhat of a beginner to Scheme - recently started
using DrScheme and following some of the Scheme
tutorials (learn  scheme in fixnum..., HTDP) - plus
one semester of Scheme in college (first few chapters
of SICP).

I have not completed the texts, but so far do not feel
I am doing real-world work - and need some motivation.

Considering my level, what is the best way of 'jumping
in' and get a better feel for what Scheme can do, and
why it is a better alternative.
