[plt-scheme] drscheme 202 on mac os x --- can't connect to update server

The version checker does use HTTP to connect to a Web
server.  However, unlike a browser, the version checker never
uses a proxy server.

Does your network setup prevent you from making a direct connection 
to a Web server?
